The Dunfermline Business Awards are proudly rooted in the town and its business community. These awards are not about who has the biggest business or the largest turnover. They are about the people behind the businesses, the dedication they show, the contribution they make and the difference they make to Dunfermline.
A family connection to Dunfermline
Our connection to Dunfermline is personal.
We are proud to be a fourth-generation Dunfermline family, with our family having been involved in the town's business community for almost a century.
Our family business, which at one time brought you Thomson's World of Furniture & Andrew Thomson, has been a familiar name in Dunfermline for generations. Built on family values, hard work and a commitment to the local community, the business has grown alongside the town and has given our family a unique appreciation of the importance of local businesses and the people who run them. The Dunfermline Business Awards is organised by the grandson and great grand daughter of Andrew Thomson himself.
We understand first-hand that running a local business is about much more than simply opening the doors each morning. It is about building relationships, employing local people, supporting other businesses and becoming part of the fabric of the community.
Our family has been fortunate to experience that connection with Dunfermline across generations, and we want to use that experience to help shine a light on the businesses continuing to make the town a great place to live and work.
An awards event for Dunfermline
The Dunfermline Business Awards belong to the Dunfermline business community.
Our aim is to create an awards platform where businesses of all sizes can receive the recognition they deserve — whether they are long-established names that have served the town for decades or newer businesses bringing fresh ideas, energy and ambition to Dunfermline.
We want the awards to become something the local business community can be proud of: an opportunity to celebrate success, recognise hard work and bring businesses and people together.
Most importantly, we want the awards to be about Dunfermline.

We are proud of our family's history in Dunfermline, but this is not about looking backwards. It is about celebrating the businesses and people shaping the future of the town.

The People's Choice Award
This year's People's Choice Award will hold a particularly special meaning for us.
The award will be presented in honour of the late James Thomson, who sadly passed away recently.
James was a hugely respected member of the Dunfermline business community and someone who cared deeply about the town and the people within it. Throughout his life, he was an incredible supporter of the local community, generously contributing to charities, community initiatives and local projects and always looking for ways to make a positive difference.
His support went far beyond business. He understood the importance of giving back to the town and helping the people and organisations around him.
It is therefore incredibly fitting that the People's Choice Award is dedicated to his memory.
The award celebrates the very thing James valued so highly — the relationship between local businesses and the community they serve.
We hope that, in some small way, the award can continue the spirit of community, generosity and support that James represented throughout his life.
